BEGINNING SHOEMAKING

SELECT YOUR CLASS DATE

You will learn how to make a pair of desert boots by hand. The school provides patterns for you based on your feet measurements for a custom fit. These patterns are used to create leather uppers, midsoles and soles for the shoes. You’ll cut out the leather, prepare the materials and stitch the leather uppers to the midsoles, glue those to the soles and then form the upper. After a few finishing details, you’ll be taking home a pair of shoes you made yourself. Includes upper leather (8 color choices), midsole leather, insole pad, thread, glue, eyelets, rivets, shoelaces, sole material, patterns, 2 full days of instruction and use of tools on site. After the class we send a pdf of all the steps we went through to make shoes as well as a list of tools and materials we used. We also share the vendors and resources where we get materials and tools.

NEW: We’ve added a prep night, on the Friday eve before the workshopto take measurements, decide on materials and styling and to allow the instructor to draw the custom patterns.  This will allow more shoemaking time over the weekend.
