Lasted shoes are how most manufactured shoes are made. A last is a foot form that is essentially wrapped with leather to determine the size and style. Then a welt and a sole are installed to finish. I make it sound simple but there are over 150 steps to patterning and making a lasted shoe. You won’t have to create a pattern in this first class, but more advanced classes will teach the pattern making for lasted shoes.
In this class, you’ll make a ballet flat or a simple slip-on loafer. The cost of the class includes choices of leather to use for your shoes and a few styles of soles. We will provide the patterns and the lasts to use in class. Class size is limited to 4 students. We hope to spur you on to making more shoes for yourself and your friends here at the school and create a community of shoemakers who share knowledge and support. Let us know when you register for this class what size last you need. Choose the full size you prefer. No half sizes available at this time.
